CIC 2018 closes the registrations reaching a new record
Washington D.C., January 11, 2018 - The 13th edition of TIC Americas closed its registration, achieving a new record number of registered teams. The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT)wants to thank the young entrepreneurs throughout the region who responded to the call for applications, which reached a total of 4,713 proposals from 41 countries among all its categories.
This current edition of TIC Americas includes the categories Startup Challenge, Eco-Challenge 9.0, and the Caribbean Innovation Competition (CIC),positioning the program as a hemispheric platform to scale innovative and sustainable solutions, which further helpin the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
YABT also thanks the companies and international organizations that support and sponsor the different categories of the program: Organization of the American States, PepsiCo, cbc, Postobón, and the World Bank, as well as the growing network of collaborating organizations throughout the region.
TIC Americas has established itself as a program of reference, and an engine of the regional entrepreneurship ecosystem, supporting the OAS Member States in their efforts to turn entrepreneurship into a tool for job creation and economic opportunities for young people. Since its creation, TIC Americas has supported more than 45,292 young people who have presented more than 24,273 business proposals, providing a channel of support to access market opportunities, investment and international connections.
Now the next stage of the program begins, and itconsists of the evaluation of the proposals that met the requirements of their respective category. The evaluations will be in done by a select international jury, that will have until February 11 for the selection of the Finalist teams. YABT will announce the list of Finalist teams by February 20, through its Internet pages and social media outlets.
The Finalist teams will have the opportunity to participate in the Finals event, which will take place in Lima, Peru, on April 11 and 12, 2018, as part of the activities of the V Youth Forum of the Americas, an official event of the VIII Summit of the Americas. As part of the preparation for the Finals, the teams will receive training and complementary virtual mentoring through the YABT BootCamp, in order to improve the business model and investment proposal.
